By Josh PiedraOctober 24, 2019
Weathering With You

Yen Press has announced that they have acquired the novelization of Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko) anime film! The novel was originally published in Japan by KADOKAWA BUNKO one day prior to the release of the movie in Japanese theaters.

Yen Press describes Weathering With You as follows:

Weathering With You follows Japanese high school student Hodaka, who runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo the summer of his freshman year. He quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits, the unusually rainy weather seeming to suggest a gloomy future. He lives his days in isolation but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability—the power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

According to Yen Press, Weathering With You has earned $15.22 million in its first three days, surpassing Shinkai’s previous blockbuster your name. (Kimi no Na wa) in initial sales.
