Xbox’s Project xCloud public preview is live

Better go check your inbox

If you signed up for the Xbox Project xCloud public preview, then you want to start pressing “F5” on your keyboard. According to the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, the invites for the public preview have started going out.

Proud of the #ProjectxCloud team for launching the public preview – it’s an exciting time at Xbox. Invitations are rolling out now and will continue over the coming weeks. We’re excited for all of you to help shape the future of game streaming.

— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) October 14, 2019

These invites were only available if you resided in either the United States, United Kingdom or Korea. Also, only Android devices are available in this preview. Sorry about that iOS fans. Only a small amount of those who signed up will be accepted into the program at first. However, Xbox will slowly start increasing the number of participants.  If you missed the announcement the first time around, you can still sign up here.

As what games will be playable, just a handful of 1st party Xbox one games that we know of for now; Halo 5: Guardians, Gears 5, Sea of Thieves and Killer Instinct. There hasn’t been any mention as to if that pool of games will be extended.

I hope I get selected to check out Project x Cloud, as I’m intrigued about the tech. Cloud gaming has been the talk of the gaming industry as of late, and Microsoft’s mobile streaming solution has a place in all of this. Plus I’d love to talk about it on our next episode of Spectator Mode Podcast. Crossing all the fingers on this one.
