NYCC 2019: New Trailers for ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ and ‘Picard’

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 5, 2019

We got not one, not two, but three trailers from the New York Comic Con Star Trek panel. First up was the announcement and teaser of Star Trek: Discovery‘s third season:

While we don’t have a date yet, other than sometime in 2020, the teaser does provide some answers as to what we’ll be seeing. Michael and the crew of Discovery travel over 900 years into the future and find some disturbing site. The Federation seems to have fall, with a shot of the flag that only has six stars, Andorians attacking them, and a universe in chaos. It looks like all of our favorites are back, though who will be captain of the ship seems up for debate.

Next, we got a quick trailer for the next Star Trek Shorts, which follows Spock and Number One getting stuck in a lift, which looks hilariously:

Finally, we have the first full trailer for Star Trek: Picard:

We see Jean-Luc on his vineyard, still having nightmares about something terrible that happened that led him to leave Star Fleet. He is then approached by a woman who looks hurt and scared, but for some reason, Star Fleet will not help her. Instead, he’ll have to team up with 7 of 9, Riker, and Deanna Troi. We’ve also got new cast members Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, and Michelle Hurd.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on CBS All Access on January 23, 2020.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
