Overwatch is finally arriving on the Switch this October

By Keith MitchellSeptember 4, 2019

There’s been a lot of rumors making the rounds regarding Blizzard’s Overwatch and the Nintendo Switch. All of which got increasingly louder when Amazon “accidentally” posted an officially licensed Overwatch Switch case, and quickly pulled it. We assumed that it was coming to the Switch and likely during today’s Nintendo Direct. However, Kotaku seems to have the inside track and has confirmed that Overwatch is indeed coming to the Switch. Which oddly enough was written off by a number of people, despite Jeff Kaplan not ruling it out.

According to Jason Schreier’s sources, Overwatch will be released on October 15th, 2019, in North America and on October 18th in Europe. Which also lines up with the recent game release leak that was posted during August 2019.

This also means that Nintendo will 100% announce this during the Nintendo Direct that is taking place today at 3 PM PT /6 PM ET. Which is great news for both Blizzard who should see an influx of new gamers and Switch owners. Hopefully, this also means we’ll finally get a cross-platform announcement for Overwatch, as well. Otherwise, this is going to be release weird having so many closed platforms. Outside of that, I hope that it performs as well as Blizzard’s previous Switch port, Diablo III. Don’t even get me started about voice communication, which is super important for a game like this.

Now that Overwatch is coming to the Switch, you got to wonder when EA is going to announce Apex Legends for the platform. There’s no way EA is going to let Blizzard have all the fun money.
