Monster Hunter World: Iceborne ships over 2.5 million units in less than a week

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Looks like when you’re Capcom, that lightning does strike twice. Case in point, the company announced today that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has already shipped 2.5 million units worldwide.

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the massive expansion for Monster Hunter: World for PlayStation®4 and Xbox One*1, 2, has shipped over 2.5 million units*3 worldwide.

What makes this even more impressive is that the game just released last Friday and only on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version won’t be released until Jan. 2020, which will only add on to the success of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

I guess this shouldn’t come as a surprise as the base game sold extremely well when it was released in 2018. Which went on to become Capcom’s best-selling game of all time, and has managed to ship over 58 million units as of September 13, 2019. That’s a lot of copies of the game.

Check out our review of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne here.

I can see why the game does as well as it does. Monster Hunter was already a successful series, and ever since Capcom finally got the message to get the series back onto consoles (and PC), it’s taken off. Lots of new gear to craft and collect, new mechanics and the addition of new monsters and some returning faces. Plus now there’s a harder difficulty Master Rank, which is the equivalent of G-Rank from the previous series.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is currently available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, myself, along with other PC players are awaiting the day that we can join our console brethren and playing in the snow-filled expansion. Just a five more months to go.
