SDCC 2019: First Look At The ‘Topgun: Maverick’ Trailer

The Need for Speed is Back!

When I was a youngling, I used to love watching movies about fighter jets. The Iron Eagle series was one of my favorites, as was Top Gun. There was something about fast jets, the wide-open sky and giving the finger to enemy pilots, while flying upside down.

So you can imagine my excitement when it was eventually announced that a new Top Gun movie was in production. Fast forward a few years later and we finally have the first trailer for the new film, Top Gun: Maverick.

Now, it seems that a lot has changed since Mother Goose crashed and burned. Maverick still hasn’t grown up, yet either and he’s still getting passed for promotions. Yet he’s still one of the best pilots that the Air Force has ever seen. But now, it looks like times are about to change and it seems that Maverick is up to the challenge. While the plot for the movie hasn’t been released, it is implied in the ending of this trailer that the new generation of pilots is coming.

Topgun: Maverick also maintains several of the previous actors, with Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer making their returns. While Miles Teller joins the cast as Goose’s Son, Bradly Bradshaw, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris. The film is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, while produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.

The film is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2020, by Paramount Pictures.
