The Last Trailer for ‘Orange is the New Black’ is Out of Lockdown

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJune 27, 2019

It’s weird to think how Orange is the New Black was just starting back in the heyday of Netflix’s original content, back when no one really knew if it was all going to work out. But now, here we are at the final season, watching as the inmates we’ve come to know and love finally close out their stories:

The trailer has a definite feeling of finality to it. We see Piper struggling to adjust to the working world, Taystee (aka Tasha Jefferson) finally back in prison after her trial and going to confront Black Cindy, who lied under oath about their involvement during the prison riots of Season 5, and Nicky doing some errand or favor for Red, who no longer has her signature red hair. It looks like disputes will be ended, friendships made and broken and maybe, just maybe, we’ll see justice finally served for the murder of Poussey Washington.

Probably one of the most touching moments in the trailer is when we see Piper getting her hair done at a salon by none other than Sophia Burset, who was a hairdresser Litchfield until she was put into solitary confinement and denied her medication. While the last few seasons have focused on her much, in season six she does get released and it’s good to see she’s out in the world thriving.

The whole cast is back for the final season, and it looks like it’s going to be a tear-jerker. Lots of questions will need to be answered still too – will Daya be reunited with her baby? Will the drug ring be revealed? Will anymore of our favorite inmates make it out? Will Caputo help bring down the corruption happening in the system? We’ll just have to see.

Orange is the New Black Season 7 premieres on Netflix on July 26, 2019.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
