Steam’s Grand Prix Summer Sale Has Started

You might want to put that hard earned money in somewhere safe because Steam’s Summer Sale is now underway. From today until July 9th, 2019, Steam will be hosting multiple discounts on a variety of games to tickle your fancy and make that backlog grow ever larger.

This time around the theme is centered around racing, as we’re now in the Steam Grand Prix Sale. According to Valve, we’ll be able to team up with friends to complete quests, earn some rewards and race to the finish each day of the summer sale. So what does it all mean?

Well, for every day of the sale, five teams compete to finish a race; Pig, Hare, Cockatiel, Tortoise, and Corgi. Once you join one of these teams, you’ll get 11x boosts per day that you can to help whatever team you choose to reach the finish line. Each boost increases the team’s speed and distance towards the finish line. Get close enough to the opposition and you can even attack which slows them down. Or you can choose to take a pit stop break and use the tokens you’ve earned while racing. These tokens can be used for things such as a Summer Grand Prix badge, discounts on purchases, profile backgrounds, and emoticons. Or you can saw up your tokens for something bigger. Just keep in mind that the Grand Prix tokens can be redeemed anytime until July 9, 2019, @ 1:00:00 pm EDT.

The big draw here is you can get a $5 discount each day, as long as you partake in the races. Though, at the moment I’m not sure if those discounts will stack or not.

Outside of the gimmicks, there’s a nice selection of games already on sale. Such as Devil May Cry V for $39.59, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for just $29.99, or even Astroneer for $22.49. And that’s just the games that are featured as of right now. There’s plenty of games that range from 20% – 50% off, with there being something for everyone.

So go ahead, get some PC games on the cheap.
