‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2’ Trailer Looks Like a Haunting Good Time

By Sara Roncero-MenendezMarch 18, 2019

Things have been moving quickly for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The first season of the show barely had time to sink into the cultural zeitgeist before it got a Christmas special, followed by the announcement of a second season in the spring. Well now the trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2 is here and…wow, it looks like they’re upping the ante:

We see Sabrina with her new Satan-backed powers straddling the line between her human life and her witch one. We see her reviving dead people, snapping people’s necks, sacrificing demons, throwing powerful spells while dancing in a dark club. Her dark baptism seems to have changed her, as well as played into Madam Satan’s plans. We also have the standard love triangle, teen drama, and badass sword wielding – the kind of thing you expect in a supernatural drama these days.

Here’s the season’s official synopsis:

Part 2 finds Sabrina exploring her darker side, curious to learn more about her heritage, while struggling to maintain her friendships in the mortal world. Romantically, Sabrina is caught in an unholy love triangle with between sexy warlock Nicholas Scratch and salt-of-the-Earth mortal Harvey Kinkle. Meanwhile, The Dark Lord, Madame Satan, and Father Blackwood continue to conjure chaos in the Spellman household and the town of Greendale. And they aren’t the only ones trying to raise hell. Everything is in question…relationships, identity, true intentions…when the devil’s work is at hand.

And while this season is going for a darker, more horror-centric tone, it is going to end in a fun way: a musical episode. Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed at during the Emmy’s For Your Consideration event that the majority of the main cast would be singing in a spooky musical finale, though we don’t know anything about the songs in it. Either way, I really can’t wait to see how this all plays out…even in the bright sunshine of the spring season.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2 will premiere on April 5, 2019.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
