Borderlands 3 Has Finally Been Revealed

PAX East has started with a bang this year. Gearbox took over the main theater and talked about that teaser they dropped the other day along with updates for We Happy Few, Bulletstorm and other games, culminating in a trailer for Borderlands 3, to no one’s surprise.

Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Party, a Borderlands board game, was revealed as well. The goal is to be the first player to finish building their claptrap. There’s a Shift code in the box, too, which is a nice touch. Speaking of Shift codes, it turns out there was a Shift code hidden in the Borderlands 3 teaser trailer (Redeem this code for a Salvador skin and five golden keys: C35TB – WS6ST – TXBRK – JJH6H). After Randy Pitchford finished doing magic tricks on stage (I wish I was kidding), more Borderlands news was unveiled.

The Handsome Collection will be getting an update with 4k textures on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, and the original Borderlands is getting remastered with 4k textures and a bunch of other updates. Four player co-op will be supported instead of just two, the minimap will be on screen at all times now, and character customization will be greatly expanded upon. Shift functionality will also be added, allowing players to get even more sweet loot using Shift codes. Players don’t have to wait too long to get their hands on it, either. Borderlands Game of the Year Edition will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3.

After some technical difficulties, the trailer for Borderlands 3 was finally shown off. The trailer showed the four new vault hunters, a bevy of new locations, including a neon city and a swamp, and a multitude of guns. In typical Borderlands fashion, the weapons were at the forefront of the trailer.

Gearbox boasted the game having over one billion guns, even including guns with legs. Familiar faces made appearances, too. Lilith, Sir Hammerlock, Tiny Tina, Marcus, and more Borderlands favorites will all be in the game. Characters from the Telltale game Tales From the Borderlands also showed up in the trailer, and it felt good to see Rhys and Vaughn again.

You can check out the trailer below:

Gearbox says there’ll be more revealed next week, on April 3, 2019. Stay tuned, because we sure will.
