Kingdom Hearts III Breaks Expectations And Has Shipped Over Five Million Copies

By Keith MitchellFebruary 5, 2019
Kingdom Hearts III

We all knew that Kingdom Hearts III was going to be an amazing experience. Especially since the wait has been nearly unbearable, and Square Enix had some really big expectations to live up to. Many thought it wouldn’t be the hit that it eventually came to be either. However, I’m sure no one expected the game to sale as well as it did – we’re talking over five million copies of the game shipped.

I’m pretty sure Square Enix and Disney are pretty happy with the results. As are the fans, who waited 13 years for the title to be released.

Over FIVE million copies of #KingdomHearts III have been shipped worldwide!

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who's joined the journey so far, and we hope you're loving every minute of it! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/0BGQ2l194H

While I haven’t played the game myself, as I really couldn’t get into the series. A couple of friends of mine simply won’t stop talking about the game. It seems that they, along with most of the internet have claimed that Kingdom Hearts III is the best game out of the series. The entire convoluted series that makes truly no sense from someone standing on the outside (like myself), looking in. I’ll give the game this much, it has some amazing music. Though I don’t know of a single game in the series that didn’t feature an ear pleasuring soundtrack.

That said, I’m happy for Square Enix, it’s been a rough ride during the games’ development cycle. This includes multiple technical issues, and even scrapping the original game engine for Epic Games Unreal Engine. Oddly enough, it sounds like another less successful Square Enix title. Thankfully with a better result.

Kingdom Hearts III is currently available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
