Shueisha, a Japanese publisher of manga magazines such as Weekly Shonen Jump, announced that they have formed a partnership with DeNA to launch a joint venture in digital entertainment services. This venture is tentatively titled Shueisha DeNA Projects and will launch on February 21.

The partnership looks to utilize Shueisha’s intellectual properties and bring them to a digital entertainment platform both locally and globally. Some of the avenues they are looking at for implementing their IPs are video games, eBooks, and avatars.

The partnership shows that DeNA will be investing in 51% of the operating costs while Shueisha will invest the other 49%. The headquarters will be located in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan and will be headed by Keigo Watanabe and Shueisha’s Masahiko Ibaraki.
