PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Update #25 Adds A New Weapon, Map Changes And More

By Keith MitchellJanuary 31, 2019
PUBG-update25

Well, here we go, the first major update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds of the new year. Coming in at a hefty 9GB, update 25 brings several changes to the game.

First up is the new weapon, the Bizon PP-19, an SMG that is only available on Erangel and Vikendi. Uses 9mm ammo, has a huge 53-round magazine and can only user sights and muzzle attachments. We’ll definitely give this weapon a try – especially me as I enjoy SMG’s.

Canted sights have also made their way into the game. This means that weapons will now enjoy the ability to use both scopes and iron sights, which is perfect for those that excel at both close and ranged combat. You’ll be able to switch between the two at a moments notice. The following weapons will be able to take advantage of the canted sights.

  • AR – Beryl M762, AKM, AUG, M416, Mutant, QBZ, SCAR-L, G36C
  • DMR – SLR, Mini14, Mk14, QBU, SKS
  • SR – AWM, M24, Kar98k
  • SMG – UMP, Vector, Bizon
  • Shotgun – S12K
  • LMG – M249

The map Vikendi also gets a change, with a new weather system called “Moonlight” being added. This provides a moonlight playing field, with the infamous Aurora Borealis hovering above you as you try to dominate the map. The map has already received a number of changes regarding item spawn rate. Which includes reducing the number of SMG’s, upping the assault rifle spawns (Finally!), as well as reducing the amount of level 3 helmets and vests (NO!!!).

However, this update isn’t all good news. The snowbike that was supposed to be released in this patch, didn’t. According to the devs, the vehicle caused some negative gameplay issues, so it was removed from this update. They’ll provide an update on this in a later post.

Head over to the official PUBG blog for the complete listing of changes and updates.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, iOS and Android devices.
