Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth Is Coming On June 4,2019

By William "Shadowz" KokJanuary 31, 2019

We’ve been waiting for this.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth has been give a release date of  June 4, 2019.

Along with this news, they showed off details of the special edition of the game or the “Showtime Premium Edition”. This includes :

  • An Outer Box with the game
  • A Set of 4 Buttons of the 4 Main Protagonist
  • Art Book
  • Deck of Playing Cards
  • 5-Inch Koromaru Plush

This is at a retail price of $69.99.

For the uninitiated, it’s basically Persona, but with and Etrian Odyssey twist. You will explore and battle in dungeons in first person view and make the maps however you desire, though there is an option for it to be done automatically. The game itself is a crossover of the cast from Persona 3, 4, and 5. Though this will be focused more on the Persona 5 gang.

In addition to encountering the casts of Persona 3 and Persona 4 along the way, the Phantom Thieves will also meet brand new characters including a “mysterious girl” named Hikari. Persona Q2 will also include a new Unison battle system that adds bonuses for certain team-ups after completing side quests.

There is one thing that kinda dampens the excitement. Persona Q2 will feature only the Japanese voice track with English subtitles. This was further confirmed from IGN and clarified with ATLUS. Statement is as follows:

“Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth’s localized release will be available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS with a Japanese voice track and English subtitles. There are no plans to add an English dub to the game at this time.”

This is kinda disappointing as fans knows that the previous game had an English Dub with mostly the same voice actors. The performance was top notch, as expected from a Persona game.

My guess is that trying to get the cast of all three games together to voice this game would be a huge challenge and perhaps take a toll on the budget. Though I wouldn’t mind the delay if it would mean a improvement of quality and product. Heck I’d settle with it as paid DLC if they made it an option. Here is hoping, but I’m glad we are getting the game regardless.

Persona Q2 : New Cinema Labyrinth will be released on June 4 for the Nintendo 3DS.
