EverQuest to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

By Josh PiedraJanuary 27, 2019

March 16, 1999. It was the day that the MMORPG genre saw the first major juggernaut take center stage. Verant / Sony launched the 3D MUD that captured our hearts called EverQuest. 20 years and 25 expansions later, EverQuest is still live even though the rights are now with Daybreak Games.

The team over at EverQuest is looking to celebrate this milestone by offering up more than just some in-game events. During the month of March, the game is launching a new map, new raids, new rares, and a story about preserving the past. Seems like something you would hear for a 26th expansion, except this entire update is completely FREE!

In addition, they are looking to add two brand-new progression servers with two approaches: one of them being hardcore, the other one is described as “ultra-casual.” While they don’t have details on the server rulesets as of yet, they are coming soon over the new few weeks with both servers launching around the anniversary of March 16.

On top of this, Daybreak Games is looking to create an event where fans of the game can come hang out in person as their honored guests. The event won’t be happening until the summer but they are hoping to announce more details about the timing, the location, and the activities in March. This will give people ample time to plan ahead for the event.

They are also looking to create a highlight reel of player stories and are asking players to send in a 20-second or less video about how EverQuest changed your life. You can submit your video directly to them or upload it to YouTube.

Currently, EverQuest is currently free-to-play with restrictions and also available to play as a monthly subscription with different tiers with zero restrictions being at the typical $14.99 per month price point.
