Monolith Soft Is Recruiting Big Time For New Games

By Todd BlackOctober 14, 2018
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Xenoblade Chronicles 3

If you’ve been around The Outerhaven for a while, you’ll know that we are big fans of Monolith Soft and the franchises they make. They made the Baten Kaitos titles on the Gamecube, and then on Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch, they brought the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise. A franchise which just got a big addition via Torna – The Golden Country. But now that those games are done, and no more DLC is coming to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the question is…what’s next?

Well, we do have teases, but in terms of confirmed things…we do know that they are hiring. For as Nintendo Everything translated from a blog post, Monolith Soft boss Tetsuya Takahashi talked about the hows and whys of their hiring drive.

The primary production staff’s “motto” – if you will – is to be “the select few.”

And that isn’t changing, but there are limits to what we can do. Compared to other companies’ projects of similar scale, we get a lot done with quite a few people; every individual members’ responsibilities are clear, and there’s a payoff to that. That being said, however, there are things that are just out of our control – little issues that we can’t attend to as attentively. For instance, if somebody gets sick, the remaining team members in the office have to pick up their slack and compensate for it… Things like that.

If you didn’t know, the dev team recently got a second studio, which brings them to three now. So this hiring drive could be seen as a way to fill up all three studios so that they can make multiple games. Though, Takahashi also admits that this hiring drive is because they refuse to release a game that isn’t the quality they expect of themselves.

More so than ever we want to raise our standards for both the customers’ satisfaction and the perfection of our products, and as it stands, we won’t be able to continue to do that. So, we’ve decided to accept applications for a few positions in each department of the team.

It seems to me that they’re making a few games, how about you? If you haven’t already, check out our reviews of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna – The Golden Country.
