Inkshares Puts Out Call for the Next Great Horror Novel

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 26, 2018

Sometimes, when we read a book we don’t like, we think about how we could have written a much better story ourselves. Well, if you’re a horror fan and you’re ready to put your prose where your mouth is, publishing platform Inkshares is holding their second annual horror novel contest.

That’s right, the 2018 Horror Novel contest is open and accepting full or partial manuscripts of horror fiction. Inkshares is likely best known for their novel Kill Creek, which was shortlisted for a Bram Stoker award and currently is being adapted as a show on Showtime.

In order to enter the contest, you submit a pitch, logline, working title, and genre. From there, you are can start uploading chapters or the entire work and start accepting pre-orders. The top three projects with the most pre-orders will win the publishing deal, including getting distribution. Also keep in mind, books with more than two authors are not eligible for the contest.

The contest is open until December 14, 2018 12:00 PST.

You can learn more about the contest in the video below:

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
