Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes Is Coming in January 18, 2019!

Ask and thou shall receive

I wondered when we were getting news for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes on our last NEP Podcast.  As it turns out that the first day of PAX West, Nintendo and Grasshopper Manufacture finally announced a release date for the game. It will be on Friday, January 18, 2019.

Now, this is an interesting situation. Reason being is that January is a big month for games. Namely, it is in the same month as Kingdom Hearts 3 for January 29, and the Resident Evil 2 Remake. It also missed it’s originally announced release date of this year 2018. While it is sad it could keep it in 2018, I’ll accept it because it won’t be in the way of Smash Ultimate. I believe it won’t be in the way too much of the competition, given to the fact that it aligns itself as an indie and the series is fairly niche itself.

Another detail that was shown off is that due to Grasshoppers’ close collaboration with many indie studios, they are getting represented as shirts for Travis in the game. Today, they showed off many shirts in collaboration with Revolver Digital and it’s games.

Needless to say, Goichi Suda loves his indie games. From Shovel Night to Hot Line Miami, Travis Strikes Again is getting the Indie support.

During the first day of PAX West, GameXplain has shown off direct feed gameplay of Batman and Travis in Co-op Gameplay. And yes, that thumbnail is a reference to the Terminator movies.

Just as a quick reminder, this game is a spin-off and not the next canon entry after No More Heroes Desperate Struggle.

I just want to point out the different abilities and the co-op special when you link up. “Choco Bannana Cream with Caramel Ice Cream!”Hilarious as always when doing a special, though nothing will beat Strawberry on the Shortcake. Also the rest stop at a Ramen cart, both characters did correct manners with Itadakimasu. It’s those little details that really make me happy and as a reflection to Travis’ otaku nature.

Overall, the game is shaping up quite well.  Travis still has his flair and style that we all know and love. From the humor to action, it seems Suda 51 has hit a homer with this one.

Now if only Travis Touchdown makes it into Smash Ultimate…
