Leifang and Hitomi make their return in Dead or Alive 6

By Keith MitchellAugust 20, 2018

The Dead or Alive 6 hype train has officially departed and Koei Tecmo is wasting no time on generating excite for their next fighter. In fact, they announced that two mainstays of the Dead or Alive series will be returning; Leifang and Hitomi.

Leifang, known as the T’ai Chi Ch’uan Genius, is the master of using her opponent’s power against them, countering assaults thanks to her flawless Sabaki and Inashi parries. She employs a variety of effective holds to gracefully counter enemy attacks, all the while hoping to prove her strength and capabilities as she pushes forward through the DOA Tournament.

Joining Leifang in DOA6 is “The Fist of Innocence,” Hitomi. The 20-year-old of mixed German and Japanese descent is a well-balanced karate expert; utilizing speed, power, and a long reach to take down opponents thanks to a straight punch that is equally beautiful and terrifying. Hitomi specializes in using techniques that combine both offensive and defensive elements in one smooth strike.

The company was also nice enough to release a new trailer for the occasion. In it, we see Hitomi and Leifang squaring off against each other. We also get a look at a new interactive stage called Forbidden Fortune. Featuring a pirate ship, with shattered bones scattered across the top deck, and mountains of gold. There are also a few interactive traps, including a Kraken. I’ll admit, I’ve never seen a Kraken in a fighting game and definitely not one that grabs and tosses opponents around like this one does.

The addition of Hitomi and Leifang brings the DOA 6 roster to ten characters. With Helena, Hayate, Kasumi, Ryu Hayabusa, Jann Lee, Zack, Rig and Diego, all previously announced.

Finally, Dead or Alive 6 will be on hand at Gamescom 2018. If you’re attending the event, be sure to check out the booth in Hall 9, #B011-C010.

Dead or Alive 6 is slated to be released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC, early 2019.
