After all these years there’s finally going to be a Streets of Rage 4

Ok, I really have zero way to say this without getting overly excited, so I’ll just come out and say it. OMG, there’s finally going to be a Streets of Rage 4.  Did you ever think that this would happen? But I’m so excited that this is happening. I grew up on the Streets of Rage series and was one of the many that begged Sega for another game.

So hyped right about now. Where’s my Sega Genesis? I need to give it a huge just for the hell of it. Why? Because it’s been 24 years since we saw an official Streets of Rage game.

DOTemu broke the news this morning and I really couldn’t believe what I was reading. But after taking a look over at the recently unveiled website, www.streets4rage.com, it looks legit. And before you ask, yes, Sega appears to be endorsing this. The game is being developed by Guard Crush Games, while Lizardcube handles the art and published by DOTemu.

So, what do we know about it? Well, the game is going to be hand-drawn, and we get to see some of the gameplay in the trailer below. It looks really amazing, to say the least.  We can also see that both Axel and Blaze are returning, as they’re shown in the trailer. But that’s it. No Adam, Skate or any of the previous characters. Hopefully, they return or the new characters that might replace them have the same amount to charm as they did. There’s also a bunch of returning baddies, as indicated in the screenshots and the trailer.

Outside of this, we don’t know much. Sure, we can assume that this will be a two-player game, but I’d love it to be four-players.  We don’t know what platforms the game will be on, but we I’m sure we’ll see it on the current platforms, Xbox, PS4, PC and possibility Switch?

It’s always nice to see re-imaging of past IPs, yet it’s also a nerve-wracking as you never know what’s going to happen with. But this is Lizardcube and they knocked it out of the park with the release of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. So I trust that they’ll do the same for Streets of Rage 4. However, I’m not completely sure about Guard Crush Games, who are only known for their Streets of Fury EX title. It reminded a lot of Pit Fighter, however, it appears to be received positively. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Now, just give us a release date! [masterslider id=”288″]
