The Cine-Analyst: Season 2, Episode 0 – Why So Scared?

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJuly 6, 2018

What makes us scared? It’s a question that writers, directors, and yes, psychoanalysts have been asking for a long time. Horror is not as easy as just throwing in some well timed jump scares or having some frightening costuming and makeup.

No, horror is more connected to who we are, and who we hope we’re not. In this episode we explore horror and our theorist for this season, a name that already strike dread in the hearts of academics everywhere. Join us on this journey where we shed some light on the darkest of stories and chase the boogeymen out from under the bed.

Tune in next Friday when I breakdown fictional characters and talk about what’s going on inside that brain of theirs. What makes us so scared of what goes bump in the night? Find out on this season of The Cine-Analyst!

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
