First Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Disenchantment’ Drops

By Charlie ShawJune 29, 2018

Who’s ready to be enchanted by the teaser trailer for Disenchantment?

Matt Groening, creator of Futurama and a little show known as The Simpsons, is launching a new animated series on Netflix called Disenchantment. The first ten episodes of the series will air on August 17, 2018 and will take place in a Dungeons and Dragons inspired kingdom called Dreamland. The story will follow the misadventures of Bean, a young princess, and her companions Elfo, a feisty elf, and Luci, her personal demon.

The recent teaser trailer for the upcoming show is short, but it offers viewers with a glimpse of familiar sights and sounds. The animation will be done by Rough Draft Studios, who were previously responsible for bringing Futurama to life with its vibrant animation. Also, many actors from Futurama will lend their voices in Groening’s new series. John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, and others will join the main cast of Abbi Jacobson (Bean), Nat Faxon (Elfo) and Eric Andre (Luci).

As a fan of both Dungeons and Dragons and Futurama, I am very excited about this series. It’s no secret that Groening, along with other writers from The Simpsons and Futurama, are fans of D&D. References about the popular tabletop game have been made throughout each show. The animated film, Futurama: Bender’s Game, was essentially a love-letter to D&D, and even the creator of the game made an appearance in another episode.

Disenchantment will air on Netflix on August 17, 2018. It will be produced by The ULULU Company with Matt Groening and Josh Weinstein serving as executive producers.
