MLB The Show 18 GameStop Mondays Trailer #2 Shows off Presentation Improvements

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieFebruary 20, 2018

MLB The Show 18 is just a little more than a month away, and Sony San Diego and GameStop are continuing their partnership with GameStop Mondays, leading up to the release of the newest entry into the franchise. This week’s installment focuses on the Commentary and Presentation Improvements made in MLB The Show 18.

After just one year in the booth with Dan Plesac and Matt Vasgersian, Harold Reynolds is out, and MLB Network analyst and former Atlanta Braves infielder Mark DeRosa is in as a color commentator. In addition, this year’s commentary was recorded in the booth with all three men together, so commentary will be more authentic and smooth flowing than ever before. This is in pursuit to tell your team or player’s story as you play in a more dynamic fashion.

Also included in this year’s game is full speed replays, designed to “emphasize the athleticism and excitement of baseball’s most exciting plays.” 3D ball trails have also been added to show the changing speed of the ball as it flies through the air. Crowd logic has been improved as well, with the number of crowd animations having been doubled, and attendance being affected by variables such as the time of day, matchup, and game score.

These are some impressive additions to the game, and there are more to come in the coming weeks.

MLB the Show 18 will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 on March 27, 2018. GameStop pre-orders get First Pitch Weekend access starting March 23, with 15 standard packs and 1 legend card included with your pre-order.
