Steins;Gate 0 Anime Set to Air in April

A promotional video for the upcoming Steins;Gate 0 anime premiered which revealed an April 2018 release date. This also marks the end of the rebroadcast of the original Steins;Gate anime in Japan. The cast from the original anime will return to reprise all of their roles. In addition, Sayuri Yahagi will be joining the cast to play the part of Maho. The anime will be produced by the studio White Fox.

The anime was announced in 2016 initially without a release date. The announcement came along with the release of the Steins;Gate 0 visual novel. Steins;Gate 0 adds its name to an already loaded 2018 anime year which includes One Punch Man‘s second season, Attack on Titan‘s third season, Tokyo Ghoul:re, Basilisk‘s long-awaited second season, the Code Geass: Resurrection of Lelouch movies, Fairy Tail‘s third anime season, Made in Abyss‘ second season, the return of FLCL, Overlord‘s second season, Boku no Hero Academia‘s third season, Full Metal Panic‘s fourth season, To Aru Majutsu no Index‘s third season, Persona 5: the Animation, Sword Art Online: Alicization and many more!

MyAnimeList.net describes the story of Steins;Gate 0 as follows:

An alternate ending to Steins;Gate that leads with the eccentric mad scientist Okabe, struggling to recover from a failed attempt at rescuing Kurisu. He decides to give up and abandons his lively scientist alter ego, in pursuit to forget the past. When all seems to be normal, he is seemingly pulled back into the past by meeting an acquaintance of Kurisu, who tells him that they have begun testing a device that stores the memory of a human and creates a simulation of them with their characteristics and personalities. Okabe begins testing and finds out that the simulation of Kurisu has brought back anguish and some new unexpected tragedies…
