Footage Of WWE 2K18 Running On The Nintendo Switch

See, it does exist after all

While 2K’s WWE 2K18 has been released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, the Nintendo Switch is absent. And while it’s set for a Fall 2017 release, 2K has been pretty silent regarding the game. We haven’t seen any footage or heard any news about the Switch version of the title.

Well, that’s about to change, as someone has gotten their hands on the game. Apparently, someone up in Poland got access to the game and recorded some footage of it in action. I didn’t even know that the game was out yet. Especially since the exact release date hasn’t been communicated. Even Amazon and Best Buy aren’t sure what’s going on, as they have updated those who pre-ordered the game that they don’t have a release date.

You can see it in action in the video below.

So far, the most obvious difference between this and the PS4/Xbox One version is the shadows – They’re completely missing. The ring also has fewer textures and colors are lower. The framerate and polygon count also look like it took a hit. To be honest, that was expected. It doesn’t appear to be that severe that the game is unplayable. But at this stage, we don’t know how it stacks up and won’t until it’s officially released.

Now, before anyone jumps the gun here, this is the version of the game without the day one update. This update, weighing in at 24GB, will include more content. Meaning that there is likely better textures and optimizations in the final game code. It also unlocks the rest of the game, as without the patch it’s limited to what you can do.

I have to say I dislike this practice of putting out a game and then requiring an update before you can even play it. Data caps and slow internet speed can easily hamper one’s experience. Especially in this instance, where there’s not even a known release date.

Hopefully, now that this video has surfaced, 2K will say something about what’s going on with the game.

WWE 2K18 is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
