Codemasters Announces “ONRUSH”, A New Arcade Racer For PS4/Xbox One

By Keith MitchellOctober 31, 2017
Codemaster's ONRUSH

We haven’t seen an arcade-style racer from Codemasters in quite some time. So I’m pretty excited that they announced that they’re working on one called, “ONRUSH“. Even better is the fact that the title is being worked on by the team formerly known as Evolution Studio. Yep, the very same team that worked on the Motorstorm series and Driveclub.

ONRUSH was announced during the PlayStation Paris Week live stream.

We are extremely excited to finally be able to talk about Onrush,” Rustchynsky said in a press release. “The team grew up playing iconic, arcade racing games so it is great to have the opportunity to re-imagine those experiences on today’s consoles and bring something fresh to the market. We believe that it is something that gamers are crying out for.

The most important factor in the game is that it has to be fun. It is not about tire choices, car setups or even racing lines; it’s about edge of your seat action and taking death defying risks in order to reap the biggest rewards.

An arcade racer that focuses on speed, crazy stunts and not worrying about racing lines? Yes, please sign me up! Especially since we haven’t had a good arcade racer, well, since Driveclub.

And while the title was announced during a PlayStation conference, ONRUSH will be heading to both the PS4 and Xbox One. When asked about the PC version, Codemasters stated that it will come eventually. At the moment they want to work on the console experience.

ONRUSH currently has no release date, but it is slated for a Summer 2018 release window.

Editor’s Note: All this is exciting, but what exactly is the “Console Experience”? I thought all games were developed on the PC and ported to the console. I’m not knocking the decision, just concerned over the meaning. Either way, I loved the Motorstorm games and loved Driveclub. Can’t wait to see how ONRUSH plays.
