2K Games Sheds Some Light On WWE 2K18 Loot Cases

It was reported yesterday that the upcoming WWE 2K18 would feature loot cases. This, of course, was a bit concerning, as we’ve seen what loot boxes can do to a game. Not to mention that loot boxes/cases typically means that a game will feature microtransactions. Frustrated, several gamers took to Twitter to express their concern, but 2K Games was paying attention. In fact, they’ve replied with some encouraging updates.

There are no paid microtransactions in #WWE2K18. Info on unlocking loot cases via in-game currency is here: https://t.co/ZmJQQJ7Bin. https://t.co/ZzF42lnUrM

No paid microtransactions will be featured in WWE 2K18, according to 2K Games. Instead, loot cases will be acquired via progression in both MyCAREER and ROAD TO GLORY modes. More information on how loot cases will work and what to expect can be found here.

However, I’m not 100% sure we can believe that. Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago that NBA 2K18 was released and microtransactions nearly ruined (or did ruin it depending on your outlook) the game. I’m not the only one who isn’t sure if they should believe the news or not. But I’m willing to given 2K Games the benefit of the doubt. We’ll find out once the game is released, which will be fairly soon.

WWE 2K18 releases Oct. 13th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A Nintendo Switch version will be available later Fall 2017.
