As promised, Rockstar brought us a brand new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer this morning. Just as fans have speculated since the game’s initial announcement, Red Dead 2 takes place before the events of the first game. You’ll play as Arthur Morgan, a member of Dutch Van der Linde’s gang “as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive”, Rockstar said today.
Because the game is a prequel, we might see some other familiar faces besides Dutch. Other gang members that John Marston hunted down in the first game will likely be present, and maybe even John himself. The trailer definitely makes it seem that Red Dead 2 will be much less of a redemption story than the first game if Arthur Morgan is the irredeemable outlaw he seems. We’ll have to wait until next Spring to find out!
No official release date has been announced yet; Rockstar is sticking with a tentative ‘Spring 2018‘ release. The game is confirmed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
