Metroid: Samus Returns Is The Most Downloaded Nintendo eShop Game This Week

By Todd BlackSeptember 21, 2017
Metroid: Samus Returns Metroid 64

Fans have been waiting for the TRUE return of the Metroid franchise for some time (don’t get me started on Federation Force…) and last Friday our waits came to an end. As Metroid: Samus Returns brought not only Metroid back, but classic 2D Metroid, albeit in a 3D rendered world, which trust us, we don’t mind.

And apparently, gamers don’t mind either, as the game is already selling well. In fact, according to the Nintendo eShop, Metroid: Samus Returns is the #1 selling game in the store. And being that the game hasn’t even been out a week, that’s very impressive.

Now, you might be thinking, “Is it really that impressive?” Consider this, Metroid: Samus Returns wasn’t the only major release last week for the 3DS eShop, as Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver were released as well, and those games fell behind Metroid.

This could be a good sign of things to come for the franchise, or it could just be that fans are enjoying the game and spreading the word about it, it’s hard to say at present. But, one thing that is for sure for this writer, is that this game is fun.

If you want to know what I mean, check out this piece about why Metroid: Samus Returns makes me happy!
