Two different Smash Bros Tournaments To Be Held At EVO 2017

By Todd BlackJuly 3, 2017

Super Smash Bros. is one of the most popular Nintendo franchises, and with its ability to be a great multiplayer game (and obviously a great fighting game), it’s not surprising that there are numerous tournaments held with it. At EVO 2017, there will be not one, but two Smash Bros. tournaments, each one being a different version of the game.

This reveal comes via the head of EVO on his Twitter feed, the first tournament will be on July 15th and feature Super Smash Bros. Melee. While July 16th will feature Super Smash Bros for Wii U.

In case you aren’t aware, though all Smash Bros. games are praised and adored, when it comes to tournament gameplay, there’s a bit of a divide. There’s a large chunk of gamers who think Melee is the perfect game fighting wise. It’s a bit quicker than the sequels that came after it, and players appreciate that. Meanwhile, the sequels (Brawll and Wii U/3DS) have in some peoples minds the best characters, not to mention better graphics, so playing on that is the standard for them.

Funnily enough, registration for the tournaments at EVO 2017 has closed, the Wii U version has 1515 participants, while Melee has 1435.
