Pokemon Nintendo Switch Game Confirmed For “2018 Or Later”

By Todd BlackJuly 27, 2017
Pokemon Nintendo Direct, The Pokemon Company

All Nintendo fans were pleasantly surprised at E3 2017 when Nintendo showed a clip of the Pokemon company revealing a “Core game” in the series coming to the Switch. This was a relief as a Direct towards the franchise was held earlier and only showed off Pokken Tournament DX and Ultra Sun and Moon.

But, this also left fans questioning when the game would come out. As there was no title, release window, or anything for it, just a mention that the team behind the core games were making the Switch title. Many speculated 2018, some said if they just started on it, it could come in 2019.

So, what’s the answer? Well, both apparently, as Serebii.net reports that Nintendo has stated:

Serebii Update: Nintendo reconfirms Pokémon for Nintendo Switch with a release date of “2018 or later” https://t.co/gDbXkHSvkT

If that phrasing, “2018 or later” sounds familiar, it’s the same line they used for Metroid Prime 4. Which implies that development is so early that not even then know when it’s coming. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
