Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Sells 450,000+ Copies In US On Launch Day

By Todd BlackMay 1, 2017
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

We already knew that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was doing good when Amazon revealed that it was already the most bought video game of 2017 on their site. But now, Nintendo has revealed just how good it’s doing, or at least, how good it’s doing in the US.

As noted by IGN, Nintendo has revealed that between the physical and digital copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the game sold 459,000 copies in the US on its launch day. Yes, on its launch day, as in day one. That’s a lot of sales for one day.

The funny thing is, that’s now a record for the fastest selling Mario Kart game ever. Mario Kart Wii used to hold the record before Deluxe came along. As for where the world falls on this…we don’t know…yet! But if the US is doing this good ON DAY ONE, it’s fair to assume that the other countries of the world are buying this as well. It’d be very easy to say that it’s breaking 1 million sold (or darn close to it) on day one, and guaranteed to be over one million by the end of week one.

Are you one of the 450,000? Let us know in the comments below!

In the meantime, check out our opinions for the Best Tracks In Mario Kart 8, the Best Racers in the Mario Kart series, and why…Mario Kart 64 is Overrated?
