Voice Actress For Zelda In Breath of The Wild Talks About The Character

By Todd BlackApril 15, 2017
Zelda Breath of the Wild

When you think about Nintendo, one of the things you honestly don’t think about is voice acting very often. With the exception of Mario of course, and maybe the Fire Emblem series (and even then, that’s more recent). This is because Nintendo honestly doesn’t have many games that do voice acting. So when Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came out with numerous voice acting scenes, people started paying attention, especially when it came to Princess Zelda herself.

As I noted in my review, Zelda was a highlight of the story, and the actress who portrayed her, Patricia Summersett, did a masterful job conveying Zelda’s emotions, thoughts, feelings, and more. In an interview with GameRant, she actually talked about what it was like being the character. For example, this version of Zelda is VERY different from past games, but, she was very happy with how Zelda was shown:

“I’m really interested in her evolution they’re all interesting and different. I really, I love how they present her now. I loved […] her pants, I love her personality that she is very assertive and out there. I really like the way that they portrayed her now. I think she’s a beautiful portrayal of Zelda.””

She also noted how this version of Zelda was very powerful in the sense that she was a strong woman who will be remembered for her strength, courage…and wisdom.

“It’s just sort of the ultimate, and the fact that I got to play her when she was such a… it was a very clear direction that they took to make her a strong woman presence, autonomous, you know. She can really take care of herself and to have a developed journey and she comes to the place where she has to reach down inside and activate her powers. Yeah, it was pretty incredible to be a part of that.””

Oh, and her favorite scenes as Zelda in Breath of the Wild?

“I really love when she nerds out with the frog and I like it when she shows a sense of humor. That stuff was super enjoyable. And I think the other thing I like was a very sort of emotional moment in the studio when she accesses her power. All very spoily, but those were probably the highlights.”
