The Cine-Analyst: Episode 5 – Kilgrave

By Sara Roncero-MenendezApril 7, 2017

On this week’s brand new episode of The Cine-Analyst, we take a look at the scariest villain of the MCU, Kilgrave. Made ultra-persuasive by experiments done by his parents, Kilgrave knows what he wants and never hesitates to take it. But is he a psychopath or just the product of incredibly bad parenting? Surprisingly, both.

Also please keep in mind, this episode deals with sexual assault and abusive behaviors, so be warned.

Here’s what we talk about this episode:

  • Kilgrave’s power of will control and why its so devastating.
  • Why you’re not allowed to experiment on kids, like ever.
  • Who or what is a Kevin?
  • The name of the game is control.
  • The power of persuasion works at lot better when you have powers.
  • Individual responsibility versus abusive childhoods.

Tune in every Friday as I breakdown fictional characters and talk about what’s going on inside that brain of theirs. Are your favorite heroes crazy or just misunderstood? Find out on this season of The Cine-Analyst!

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
