Project Sonic 2017 Is Now Sonic Forces, Gameplay Coming Tomorrow

By Keith MitchellMarch 16, 2017

Update: Someone recorded some off-screen footage ahead of the official announcement for tomorrow. Reminds me of Sonic Advantage/ Sonic Generations 3d segments.

When Sega announced two big Sonic titles; Sonic Mania and Project Sonic 2017, we’ve seen tons of Sonic Mania content. Gameplay, levels, music and some of us even got some hands on. But in the back of everyone minds was, what’s the deal with Project Sonic 2017? Was it going to be this huge project that looks to bring Sonic back in a big way? Was it coming to be a new, modern Sonic, or what?

Well, Sega is about to let the hedgehog out of the bag this week. The first big news we’ve heard in a while is that Project Sonic 2017 is dead. In its place is Sonic Forces, the newly named title for the upcoming game. I’m already signing the Sonic Heroes theme song and replacing it with Sonic Forces.

In addition, we’re finally going to see some gameplay of Sonic Forces, as Sega is teasing something for tomorrow. This comes via a tweet from the Sonic Twitter feed.

Sonic 2017 is now Sonic Forces! Stay tuned tomorrow for the first gameplay footage of Modern Sonic. pic.twitter.com/mqdjaYiWTc

Exciting news indeed, but what exactly are we going to see tomorrow? Well, only Sonic and Sega know and I’m sure they can’t wait to tell show us.

C’mon Sega, please don’t disappoint us!
