Shovel Knight Now Switch Launch Title, Indie Showcase Coming

By Todd BlackFebruary 23, 2017
Shovel Knight

With only a week away from the release of the Nintendo Switch, every move, both big and small, will be felt in regards to the launch. Recently, it was revealed that the Binding of Isaac was no longer a Switch launch title. While this is a blow, we now know via Nintendo that two games have taken its place. Fast RMX, and Shovel Knight.

This is big deal for two reasons. One, it adds more games to the launch lineup (which has been called into question many times), and two, for Shovel Knight, this is the complete edition, which will feature not only the original game (now called Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope), but also feature Plague Of Shadows and Spectre of Torment. The latter of which hasn’t come out yet.

As for Fast RMX, this is a game very much like F-Zero. Fast races, high speeds, and a whole lot of fun. If you want an F-Zero game on the Switch? You might want to buy this game to show Nintendo you’re interested.

Adding to the excitement, in that same press release, Nintendo revealed that a special “Nindie Showcase” Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 9 a.m. PT on the Nintendo website. This showcase is said to highlight some of the 60 indie games that will come to the Nintendo eShop this year.

So any way you slice it, the Nintendo Switch’s lineup is growing every day it seems.
