No Plans for Resident Evil 7 on the Switch

No plans to bring Resident Evil 7 to Switch?

With a surprising amount of companies looking to develop and port games to the Switch, it seems not everyone is happy. Several companies have already expressed their lack of desire with the Switch, as we’ve seen recently. Now it seems that Capcom has also given some thought about one title in particular; Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 7 - main

While everyone is looking forward to Capcom’s new take on the Resident Evil series, it seems like the Switch will miss out on it. In a recent interview with Express Online,  RE7 producer Masachika and director Koshi Nakanishi, weighed in on the matter.

“I think it’s a very unique piece of hardware,” producer Masachika Kawata explained.

“I’m looking forward to the possibilities of the system itself, but we have no plans at the moment regarding Resident Evil on Switch.”

Now, while this may be upsetting to many Nintendo Switch fans. This isn’t the first time that Capcom has refused to release Resident Evil titles on Nintendo’s consoles. Both the Wii and Wii U have missed out on Numerous Resident Evil titles. The last Resident that appeared on either was Resident Evil: Revelations. None of the mainstay titles, Resident Evil 5 or 6, were ported to the Wii or Wii U.

Though, all may not be lost. The Resident Evil series is perhaps Capcom’s most ported entry. It has made appearances on multiple consoles. And while Capcom hasn’t stated if this is a technology issue or not. Perhaps this is more of an adoption rate issue, more than anything. I suppose the sheer amount of pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch would suggest otherwise. We’ll just have to wait and see.

We’ll just have to wait and see. Resident Evil 7 releases on January 24, 2017, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Expect a review from The Outerhaven in the near future.
