Darius 30th Anniversary Edition Announced for PS4; Comes with 7 Discs of Game Music

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieNovember 5, 2016

Although in today’s gaming world, shoot-em-ups are a lost art, there isn’t any place for denial when it comes to the fact that games like Darius are usually the first to come to mind when talking about SHMUPs. Case in point, the efforts of companies such as Degica with the recent port of DariusBurst Chronicle Saviors (review here.)

Taito, nary a stranger to this genre, being the originators of the Darius series of games, has announced a 30th anniversary edition of Darius, marking the first time that the original Darius game has been released for a home console.

Courtesy of Hamster, the company responsible for the Arcade Archives game service, Japanese PS4 owners will now be able to own this physical package on February 23, 2017 for 13,800 yen. The package include a copy of Darius, a blu-ray disc feature “super-play” footage of the games, a 32-page booklet of interview material, the arcade instruction panels, as well as a series of 7 discs of music from the various Darius games:

  • Disc 1: Darius (Arcade version, Game Boy version)
  • Disc 2: Darius II (Arcade version)
  • Disc 3: Darius Gaiden (Arcade version)
  • Disc 4: G Darius (Arcade version)
  • Disc 5: Darius Twin (Japan version, International version)
  • Disc 6: Darius Force, Sagaia (Console version, International version Darius II)
  • Disc 7: Mobile version Darius, newly arranged music, and more
