Makoto Shinkai’s Children Who Chase Lost Voices Comes to Toonami

Makoto Shinkai

Makoto Shinkai has been the talk of the anime world with his latest film, Your Name (Kimi no Na wa); however, the United States is about to get a taste of another film of his: Children of Who Chase Lost Voices (Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo). Makoto Shinkai’s film is scheduled to air on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on November 5 at 3:00am EST after One Piece.  With the very late start, it’s pretty much a given to set your DVR to watch this one.  The night is also Daylight Savings Time in the US and it is when we will be shifting our clocks back one hour so the movie will be airing at the equivalent of 4:00am EST that night.

MyAnimeList.net describes the story as follows:

Strange sounds in the darkness… Unearthly music from an old crystal radio… These are all the warning Asuna Watase has before a simple walk to her clubhouse catapults her into a nightmarish adventure that will take her beneath the Earth to a lost land beyond the realm of legend! Attacked by a strange monstrous creature, rescued by a mysterious stranger and pursued by a relentless enemy, Asuna finds herself enmeshed in a centuries old mystery that will bind her to a strange young defender and lead her inevitably, towards a secret that may hold the key to life itself!

Makoto Shinkai has created many other works such as She and Her Cat, 5 Centimeters per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, Dareka no Manazashi and The Garden of Words.  He also collaborated on the ef-Tales of Memories and ef-Tales of Melodies anime series.

As of the time of this post, Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name has earned 15 billion yen ($148 Million), is ranked as #5 in the top animated films of all-time in Japan, is Japan’s highest grossing movie in 2016, has been #1 at the box office for seven consecutive weeks and has won the Best Animated Film award at Spain’s Sitges Awards.
