Viz Media Gets Rights To Nintendo Comics

By Todd BlackAugust 16, 2016

After a long battle, Viz Media has officially gotten the rights from Nintendo to the Super Mario Adventures comic, and the current Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Manga that’s going on in Japan.

The Super Mario Adventures comic ran in the Nintendo Power magazine from 1992-1993, and Viz Media plans to recompile the entire run and sell it to the world. The plot itself was based in the realm of Super Mario World, and thus includes Yoshi, the Koopalings, and more.

As for the Twilight Princess comic, it was the first comic done by Akira Himekawa since his seven year hiatus from the Legend of Zelda manga series. It is based on the Hyrule from Twilight Princess and will feature all the main characters from the fan favorite game. Viz Media is bringing it to the US in Spring 2017.

So if you’re looking to grow your Nintendo collection beyond video games, this might just be the way to do it.
