Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove to be published by Adult Swim Games

By Keith MitchellAugust 24, 2016

Yo yo yo, it’s time to get funky! Perhaps with the two illest aliens from planet Funkotron to ever grace a video game, ToeJam and Earl are making a comeback in their upcoming title, ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove. Fans of the series will definitely remember the two when they made their debut on the Sega Genesis back in 1991. Originally pitched during 2015 as a Kickstarter project by Greg Johnson of Humanature Studios, one of the original creators of the ToeJam And Earl games. The initial goal for the campaign was set at$400,000, yet it eventually surpassed $500,000 and managed to hit several stretch goals as well.

Sadly, that was just enough to get the upcoming sequel / remake an appearance on the PC, along with an extra playable zone and more playable characters. The final three stretch goals that would have allowed the title to also make its way to consoles were not reached.

Now’s all changed however as Adult Swim Games has stepped in and now the title will not only make its way to PC, but also the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U. It gets better! Not only is there a page for the game now online over on Steam, but the game will also make an appearance at PAX West 2016 (formerly known as PAX Prime). That’s right, so if you’re going to be in attendance at PAX West 2016, be sure to make your way over to the Adult Swim Games Arcade in rooms 605 & 610, which are located on the 6th floor. Additionally, Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove will make their appearance on PC and Consoles in 2017.

Jamming is about to get an upgrade!

I loved this game during my younger gaming years, so I’m happy to see that this gem has been picked up by a major publisher and that rest of fans of the series are in agreement. You did Greg, you did it!
