Spotify Starts a Video Game Music Streaming Portal

By Keith MitchellAugust 12, 2016

So a while now, my go to place for jamming to video game music, outside of my house that is, has been Google Play. They have a huge selection of video game music features and has been my companion doing my workout sessions. However, it seems that Spotify has now gotten into the action and has opened up a portal devoted to video game music, called Spotify Gaming.

Now you can head over to Spotify to get your video game music fixes, in addition to creating playlists that include both game music and your favorite mainstream music mixes. So far I’ve found albums for games such as I am Setsuna, No Man’s Sky, and Halo 2. However, there’s still a lot of music that I haven’t found, popular music such as any of the Street Fighter games, Ridge Racer, I haven’t even found some of my favorite remixes either.  This is especially annoying since you can find just about any video game related music on the standard Spotify. So as to why you aren’t able to find them in the new gaming portal is behind me. In addition, you can currently find several curated lists from popular sites (we’re not on there yet) that have put together some gaming playlists.

There’s definitely a ton of soundtracks that aren’t up on Spotify Gaming portal, that I can find on Google Play, but I’ll admit that it is a good start. Where it goes from here is completely up to Spotify, so here’s to hoping they are willing to go the distance. And here’s to hoping we can get a list on Spotify Gaming.
