Dark Souls III – Ashes of Ariandel DLC announcement leaked ahead of time

By Keith MitchellAugust 23, 2016

Update: Looks like the official name of the DLC is called “Dark Souls III – Ashes or Ariandel”.  Apparently, a lot of the leaked info actually came from a Tweet from Sony themselves, which has seen be taken down. The trailer is also not available as it is marked private. Oops…

During Gamescom 2016, Bandai Namco dropped some info that an announcement for Dark Souls III would be on August 24, 2016. Originally I dismissed this as the last time this happened, it didn’t live up to the hype. This time, things are a bit different as not only was the announcement leaked ahead of time, we’ve gotten confirmation of when the DLC is going to be released.

According to Siliconera, images have been shown that includes a “great sword with colorless flames”. In addition, there appears to be several new magic options, one that unleashes an ice storm, while the other is some sort of “boomerang made of light”. There’s also going to be a new PVP specific map, called the “Immortal Competition”. This area looks to be a snow-covered area. There hasn’t been any other news about progressing the story for this DLC, so if this is all there is, that’s a bit disappointing for me at least.

There hasn’t been any other news about progressing the story for this DLC, so if this is all there is, that’s a bit disappointing for me at least. The first of two DLC’s for Dark Souls III will be made available in Japan for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25, 2016. Hopefully, that means that a North American release won’t be too far behind if it’s not on the same day that is.
