Is Mortal Kombat XL Making Its Way to the PC?

By Keith MitchellJuly 31, 2016

By now, everyone knows how both Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios, have treated the PC gaming community. Between giving the PC gamers the shaft with Mortal Kombat X in regards to its launch, performance and finally cancelAll Postsling the Kombat Pack 2 and not being Mortal Kombat XL to the PC. It definitely seemed like that supporting the PC audience was the last thing that both parties wanted to do. We touched base on this sometime ago here.

So image the surprise when Ed Boon released a poll on twitter that asked what the gaming community wanted to see the most on Mortal Kombat X. Among the choices was getting Mortal Kombat XL on PC with GGPO. For those not aware of what Mortal Kombat XL is, this was an updated version of Mortal Kombat that provided updated netcode and 4 new characters. Getting back to the poll, the winner with 48% of the results was “MKXL with GPPO for PC”.

According to Ed Boon, over 10,000 gamers voted for getting Mortal Kombat XL on the PC. That I don’t find so surprising, especially since Mortal Kombat X was received largely by the PC audience. And many of those were pretty frustrated when support for the title was dropped.

Over 10,000 of you voted. Looks like you guys really want a PC MKXL and some character love/buffs! We hear ya! pic.twitter.com/1oHB4e3yHL

Does this mean that we’re going to finally get some more Mortal Kombat X loving and see MKXL arrive on the PC? That’s still up in the air, but at the very least, both WB and Netherrealm Studios can at least see that the PC audience still wants some Mortal Kombat X support. The question now is, what will they do about it?

More news on this as it develops.
