Caution: The Xbox One Version of The Division Is Deleting Characters

By Keith MitchellApril 12, 2016
The Division

Wow, I was ready to fire up my copy of The Division and have the 1.1 update applied, but after checking out what’s going on, I’m glad I waited. Reports are coming in that multiple gamers that have  downloaded the recent update for The Division are finding out that their character or characters have been deleted from their accounts. So far it seems like this is isolated to the Xbox One version of the game, as indicated by the mass amounts of users complaining about over in The Division sub-reddit here. I’ve heard of losing items in a game before, especially during my MMO days.  an entire character, one that you slaved away min/maxing and make it the best you could, only to have it removed in a blink of an eye is pretty damned devastating.

It also does seem like Ubisoft and Massive are aware of the issue as well as other issues that were introduced with the update that they rolled out a hotfix recently. Sadly the hotfix will not address the issue of the missing characters, as indicated over at the official The Division forums.

There’s currently no word on when or even if the missing players are going to be restored as of yet. To be safe, if you are playing the Xbox One version of The Division, it would be best if you stop. Especially if you invested a lot of time with your character/s.
