Codemaster Welcomes Evolution Studios to the Family

By Keith MitchellApril 11, 2016

Well this has to be some of the best news I’ve heard as of recently. Previously Sony had announced that they had shut down Evolution Studios for one reason or another, but basically the studio that gave us some of the best racing games ever had been left out in the cold. However as of this morning that has all changed as Codemasters have announced that they have picked up the entire team and are bringing them into the Codemasters family.

We have very exciting news today. We’re delighted to announce that on the 25th April, Codemasters will be expanding its portfolio of studios to include the highly-respected and very talented team from Evolution Studios.

Why are we so excited? Well, that should be pretty obvious! Over the last 30 years, Codemasters and Evolution Studios have created some of the most successful racing franchises in the industry, including GRID®, DiRT®, DRIVECLUB and MotorStorm. This expansion will not only see us gain a wealth of racing expertise and skill, but it’ll take Codemasters to the next level as the world’s largest racing-focused games company. With phenomenal racing DNA on both sides, we hope that gamers out there are excited to see what we do next – as are all of us here at Codies.

Couldn't be more excited to announce that myself & the team from Evolution Studios will be joining @Codemasters https://t.co/ZjvQm8whkH

We can't wait to start work with @Codemasters on a new racing IP! Keep following myself & @PhenomEvolution for news. https://t.co/qwdVTNCGPY

This is huge news! Two of the biggest and best studios of their craft under on roof. That also means that while Evolution was only able to create games for the PlayStation platform, they can now do it for any system of their choosing. My mind is already running wild just thinking about what sort of games can come out of this union.

I’m happy to see  Evolution come out of this in a big way, good for them all!
