Dark Souls coming to Xbox One via backwards compatability, free with Dark Souls 3 pre-order

By Keith MitchellFebruary 15, 2016

Looks like Microsoft is now looking to draw in those few gamers that haven’t had the pleasure of checking out the original Dark Souls on Xbox 360 by bringing the title over to the Xbox One via backwards compatibility. However, there’s a catch! while Microsoft has not officially announced when the title will come to the console for those who already own the title for the Xbox 360, they are running a promo that will net anyone who pre-orders the Xbox One version of Dark Souls 3, a free copy of Dark Souls.

This deal was first noticed on the Australian Xbox store front, where it has since been removed but the cache of it can be found here, thanks to the Xbox One subreddit for the heads up. I guess Microsoft forgot that once something is on the net, it stays there.

Sure it’s a bit sneaky on Microsoft’s part, but it’s still good news to see that Dark Souls will be making it’s way to the Xbox One, it’s definitely a game that shouldn’t be missed, especially if you didn’t get a chance the first time around.

Dark Souls 3 drops on April 12, 2016, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
