Bring It Back (Incoming) – Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (2003)

By Jason KwasnickiJanuary 10, 2016

The Drop is back over at the Playstation Blog, and this week Ryan Clements brings news of another PS2 game making its way into the realm of 1080p and trophies. While Arc the Lad : Twilight of the Spirits has yet to grace the Bring It Back wish list, I’m not complaining. The game will be available on the Playstation Store on Tuesday, January 12th.

Upon its release, critical reception to this tactical RPG was very mixed. Metacritic holds it at a 72, and trying to go back and find many of those reviews will be impossible lest you happen to have a copy of that month’s EGM lying around. From what I’ve been able to read about Arc the Lad, though it is fairly unoriginal and sticks to many established story and gameplay tropes from the genre, it at least does them at a better than average quality. I say what I’ve read, because while I’ve definitely been aware of the title’s existence, I’ve never played it. Therefore, I cannot give a recommendation for Arc the Lad myself.

But, thankfully, that is something I’ll be able to remedy in the coming week. I just hope the game was actually worth bringing back.

Born and raised in the New York area, currently kicking it in Queens, and keeping an ear to the grindstone in this crazy world of internet media hustling. Having attended the George Washington University with a Degree in History, I'm sometimes inclined to use big words unnecessarily. While I typically play a lot of RPGs, I tend to like any game that is fun. My PSN ID is NY-Miller, so hit me up if you ever want to kill some Wizards on the Moon in Destiny.
