Gears of War gets a new eSport Pro League, starts on Oct 29

By Keith MitchellOctober 23, 2015

Looks like Gears of War is about to start heating up again as the title will be featured in it’s own eSport Pro League. Starting on October 29, 2015 and thanks to ESL, the new Gears of War league feature 8 different teams from all across North America and will be competing for a cash purse of $50,000.00 USD.

To celebrate this new league announcement, Coalition, the company formerly known as Black Tusk Studios and the team behind the Gears of War Xbox One remaster, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and upcoming Gears of War 4, have unveiled a brand-new weapon skin today, available for purchase on Xbox Live exclusively during Season One of the Pro League. Dubbed the “Sweaty” weapon skin, all proceeds from its purchase of $4.99 will benefit Gears of War eSports and will help fund even bigger tournaments and prize purses in the future.

“It’s exciting to bring Gears of War back to eSports alongside our partners at ESL and Twitch for Ultimate Edition,” said Rod Fergusson, Co-Creator of Gears of War and Studio Head of The Coalition. “It’s something that our fans have been requesting for a long time and we’re really pleased with how they’ve responded to the game’s eSports-friendly features, like LAN support, spectator mode and more match customization options. – Rod Fergusson”

Fans of Gears of War will be able to watch as teams Annex, EnVyUs, Enemy eSports, Murder by Numbers, Swarm Gaming, Synergy, Tragedy, and VexX Gaming battle it out in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition as of October 29 via twitch.tv/gearsofwar.
