Play The Walking Dead Road to Survival Now!

By Walter MackSeptember 2, 2015

The Walking Dead: Road to Survival officially launched earlier this week on both iOS and Android. Based on the The Walking Dead comics (that means no Daryl, sadly) it plays like a lot of resource management mobile games. Survivors needs to train their troops, band together in factions, and produce resource.

Featuring a story loosely based on the comics, players join up with original characters at the gates of Woodbury shortly before the arrival of the Governor. Players can add characters from the comics ranging from Rick to Andrea to Axel.

Combat is straightly straight forward. There are 4 different character traits, marked by different colors: Tough(Blue) counters Red(Alert), which counters Strong(Green), which in return counters Fast(Yellow), which counters Tough, giving each class a check and balance.

Road to Survival allows for players to earn rare weapons and characters without purchases. Today marks the launch of the first Raid Tournament (Raids= the PvP portion of the game where you attack other players). Lasting 48 hours, participants can earn prizes for reaching certain milestones (cumulative points for wins) and a reward depending on their standing by the end of the tournament (with a rare 3 star Dale, 3 star Magnum Revolver, and an Elite Character token as the top prize).

Other weekly missions also give players the opportunity to gain rare characters if they can complete said mission. Players still have 3 days to earn Mission by completing her mission, while a new mission with Shane as the final prize just started today.

Note: This is not the teased mobile The Walking Dead game from a few months ago. The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land features Daryl Dixon and the TV Universe and will launch simultaneously with the season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
